MK III Weather Station

Following on from the popular WS-2000 weather station, RainWise has introduced the MK III. It is a wireless, solar powered weather station with new features including the wireless rain gauge and multi-display.

The MK III wireless Weather Station is easy to install and use. The roof top sensor assembly is wireless and solar powered, allowing it to operate for many years without servicing. With a range of up to 400 feet you can place Oracle displays almost anywhere in your home or office. With the computer interface you can collect, analyze and build a data base of your local weather.

The Weather Station MK III Sensor Assembly broadcasts the weather data to one or more receivers, such as the Weather Oracle® Display, Weather Oracle® MK III and the Computer Interface. This means that you can have as many displays and computer interfaces in a building as you like, using just one sensor assembly. This is great for condominiums and schools. A new feature to the MK III is the option for a wireless yard-mount rain gauge. If the rain collector ever needs cleaning, the yard mount is easily accessible.

MK III Sensor Assembly

Following from the popular WS-2000 comes the Rainwise MK III. The MK-III sensor assembly has been designed to offer improved durability and serviceability. This sleek new design is 33 inches high and weighs just over 7 pounds. It is the most accurate, durable and easy to install weather station available.
* New to the MK III is the option of a wireless yard-mounted rain gauge. This facilitates periodic cleaning of the gauge without going onto the roof... particularly useful where there are a lot of trees. This wireless yard-mounted rain gauge transmits to the MK-III at 315 MHz. Details below. Sensor assembly
* The solar charged battery supply is guaranteed to provide continues operation below 60 degrees latitude. The MK III will operate for at least 60 days without sun.
* Since there is no connection between the sensors and the power line, damage from thunderstorms is virtually eliminated, and the sensors are immune to power line voltage surges.
* The initial sensor calibration is for wind, temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
* The passive solar shield for the temperature and humidity sensors follows the ones design of the National Weather Service.
* All materials used in the sensor assembly and weather instruments are chosen for durability and resistance to weathering and corrosion. All of our weather station hardware is stainless steel. The station is fabricated from fiberglass and structural PVC and is ultra-violet inhibited. The optional tripod is galvanized steel and comes with a sealant package and lag bolts for

Every measured or calculated parameter has a display, including a wind direction indicator. Some windows have options on what is displayed, the temperature window will display either outside temperature, inside temperature, wind chill or dew point. In addition to the real-time data, the Weather Oracle records minimum and maximum values, with time of occurrence, for wind speed, temperature, relative humidity, temperature humidity index, dew point, and barometer. For rainfall, two different accumulations are recorded. Each rainfall counter shows the time and date of the last counter reset.
* Unlike typical LCD displays, the bright LED Weather Oracle display can be viewed from across a room, under any lighting conditions.
* Multiple displays allow you to get the information you need at a glance.
* The wireless design allows the user to have as many displays and/or computer interfaces as desired. For example, in a condominium or school with one sensor assembly you may be able to provide weather information to all of the member units or classrooms.
* The Weather Oracle Display may be placed anywhere convenient to a wall outlet, such as on a table or desk. Keyhole slots are provided for wall mounting.
* Clock or calendar is always visible.
* Display brightness can be adjusted at the touch of a button. Any individual display may be turned off selectively if desired.
* The simple setup mode allows English or Metric units to be selected for each parameter. The barometric pressure may be adjusted for the station elevation with a digital offset. A digital temperature trim is also available. A diagnostic mode shows the weather station version numbers, the sensor assembly battery voltage (with 24 hour high and low values), and a received signal indicator.

HM-1 HAZMAT Weather Station.

The HM-1 HAZMAT weather station is designed for first responders to hazardous material incidents. The weather station provides important real-time information for monitoring and responding to incidents. The station works in conjunction with CAMEO/ALOHA software that enables responders to monitor plume dispersion. CAMEO was developed by Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office (CEPPO) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office of Response and Restoration (NOAA). The software was developed for front-line chemical emergency planners and responders. CAMEO helps in evaluating and predicting dispersion patterns. The portable nature of the HM-1 and its long range radio allows responders to monitor the situation in real-time and from a safe distance.

Due to recent events and the creation of the Department of Homeland Defence many Hazmat teams now face new challenges and responsibilities. For this reason the HM-1 includes a radiation detector, this sensor gives first responders an early warning for the presence of radiation. We hope that nobody ever needs the sensor but hopefully the fact that it is present will give those on the front line a little peace of mind.

The HM-1 has the following features:

* Rapid Deployment: The HM-1 is packed in a single heavy duty transport case. The case contains the tripod, sensor assembly, display and battery chargers. The sensor assembly fits into the case as a single unit and does not require any assembly. The display is housed in its own self contained case that fits into the main transport case. The tripod has twist-locking connections and does not require any tools. It takes less than 2 minutes to get the system setup and operational.

* Electronic Compass: The sensor assembly contains an internal electronic compass that ensures that the reported wind direction is accurate regardless of the assembly's orientation.

* Battery Operated: The weather station sensor assembly is powered from four alkaline D cells. For fixed installations extension cables are available for permanently connecting power. The display also contains re-chargeable lead-acid batteries. In addition, it can be powered from 12 Volts DC or 110 VAC (with the transformer provided). This allows the display to be permanently installed in a vehicle or control room.

* Spread Spectrum Radios: FCC approved 900 MHz spread-spectrum radios are used to ensure quality interference free reception between the station and display even at ranges of up to 7 miles. Ranges in excess of a 1/4 mile require clear line of sight.

* Computer Interface: Integrated serial interface that is compatible with CAMEO/ALOHA. This industry standard software suite was developed by the EPA and NOAA specifically for hazmat teams. It is free software and available here http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/.

* Radiation Detector: The sensor assembly includes a nuclear radiation detector for early warning and general monitoring of radiation levels. The display shows both the current level in REMs and total exposure in REM hours. Note: This sensor is designed to function as an early warning and does not replace hand held Geiger counters.

* Sensors: The HM-1 has all the standard wind speed, wind direct and temperature sensors required by CAMEO/ALOHA. In addition, the display reports barometric pressure, relative humidity, dew point, heat index and nuclear radiation.

* LED Display: The display uses seven segment LED display for reporting parameters. These displays have the advantage over LCD displays in that they are bright and easily readable at a distance even in low light conditions. They also do not suffer from the limited viewing angle that is common with LCD displays.

* Multiple Units / Multiple Displays: Sensors may be coded so that one site can use multiple systems without the chance of interference. Alternatively one HSA-1 sensor assembly can be used with multiple RDI-1 displays.

* Rugged Construction: The sensor assembly is constructed of durable polyvinyl chloride, fibreglass and aluminum. These materials are non-corrosive and non-sparking. The wind sensor is made from durable Lexan™/ABS and is strong enough to be permanently attached to the sensor assembly. This makes setup and take down quick and easy. The display is built into a durable plastic carry case that simply closes when not in use and requires no other packaging.

* Affordable: Hazmat weather stations have traditionally been an expensive investment for first responders. With decreasing budgets and increasing responsibilities we see the need for an affordable unit. This resulted in the creation of the HM-1 with all the features but without the cost. .

* 5 Year Warranty: The HM-1 is solidly engineered and built, it is designed to give many years of service. We therefore are offering an unmatched 5 year no hassle warranty.
